| You are right about the crisis. I just lost $20K on a sale of a already cheap block of land here at Gatton Qld.Still have 1 1/4 acres left to sell but I think I will wait this time for better markets. If you got the time wait, and hold your guns on price,if not just get rid of it the stress is not worth it.As I say ,when i loose (Shxt happens)hav,nt lost as much as some, just don,t make a habbit of it.It gave you more in life than money could make up for.I hope this makes it a bit easier for you.Good Luck Al. |

Thanks for the words of encouragement, we are not ready to slit our wrists yet, old faithful is quite happy in the shed at home and we will off touring with the replacement but it would be good to see it being used again by happy new owners. _________________ Love that red dust |

Darky,
You have been encouraging to me on several personal issues, my new Silverado and such... I will return something to you now, not of real financial counseling, but just a perspective I have learned in 50 years of these economic downturns of which I have been through a few times now.
Here is the perspective for you, that proves to be true for the long haul: People often panic sell at a discount at the bottom of any downturn when in truth they should have locked it up and forgot about it for a year or two. They drop 25% to panic sell when they do not need or have a use for the money that would have earned only 3% in the bank... The best return on their money often proves to have been holding the value of the asset until the market recovers... Unfortunately, people in general sell at the bottom.
Now mind you I do not think we are at the bottom quite yet in this economy. However: Bushtrackers and Fords for that matter, my two biggest personal recommedations, have both increased in value over the past ten years and that is a pretty good track record of a performing asset. While it is no indication of the future, I hesitate to sell a good asset at a loss at the bottom.
Kind Regards, stg |

Thanks Ranger agree the financial world will get back on track soon and all markets will open up again - at this point in time we are prepared to leave our current van sitting in the shed whilst we get back out into the wide brown land in our new model.

G'Day Darky,
I have to agree with you and the Ranger. Unfortunately we weren't in a position to keep both BT's while waiting for things to turn around, and eventually had to let our new one go when we had no takers on our first unit. We will now leave our 2004 on the market as we travel this great land of Oz,and when we have a sale we will drop in and see Steve and start over.
Hope to see you down the track
Lawrie. _________________ Buggerlugs |
